The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, a 5k run/walk fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer, will be held in Downtown Greenville at Fluor Field on Saturday, September 25, 2010.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is a global series of races with more than 1 million annual participants that raises money to fund research to discover what causes breast cancer. The ultimate goal is to find a cure for breast cancer, but researchers must first determine what causes it before they can cure it.
A lot of the money raised at this event actually stays here in our community to provide diagnostics, treatment, education and more for uninsured or underinsured women.
The annual event has been an inspirational time for participants since it’s creation in 1983. Men, women, survivors and the friends and family of those who have lost the battle to breast cancer gather together for the 5k run/walk to celebrate and spread the message about breast cancer in their communities.
